DUBUQUE AREA HEALTH CARE
DUBUQUE AREA HEALTH CARE. To help control rising health care costs, MERCY HEALTH CENTER and FINLEY HOSPITAL (THE) announced on August 25, 1993 the formation of Dubuque Area Health Care. While not a merger, the corporate alliance offered the promise of future medical services and facilities being paid for jointly. The venture legalized by a corporation early in 1994 would allow the elimination of duplicated medical technology, services by expanding laundry and maintenance, and supplies with the benefit volume buying. Both hospitals would have separate assets, but would combine revenues and expenses.
Boards of both hospitals would remain in place, but a new board coming from both hospitals for the corporation would be named.
