DUBUQUE AND LAKE SUPERIOR MINING COMPANY. The company was organized by Dubuque, Iowa and Superior, Wisconsin businessmen. (1) In 1907 the company was interested in the MINING potential of the Pike's Peak region five miles southwest of Dubuque. (2) The area was found to be rich in LEAD and ZINC ore.

An estimated $100,000 was spent on development work and machinery. (3) Disagreements, however, about the management of the company prevented further progress. (4) The price of zinc ore also fell. The site was again the interest of mining operators in 1915.
