DUBUQUE AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION (AYSO)
DUBUQUE AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION (AYSO). The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) was founded in 1964. Dubuque Region 419 of AYSO was organized in 1983 and chartered in 1985. The local organization is part of Area E of Section 6 of AYSO. (1) In 1985 Dubuque Region 419 AYSO enrolled about 300 people and six teams. The organization used fields at the MCALEECE SPORTS COMPLEX and several local schools. (2)
In 2000 the organization involving 2,000 people and 150 teams used seven field at the DUBUQUE SOCCER COMPLEX, six fields at McAleece, and two fields at HOOVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Each participant paid $45 for the 10-week season which included insurance and a uniform. Remaining funds were invested in field maintenance and supplies.
