DENNY'S LUX CLUB. Originally located at 18th and Central, the Lux Club was owned by Frank Reuter as a "key" club which was open for members only. The club was named for the Luxembourger Club of Chicago, where Reuter paid an annual membership fee of $200. According to Dubuque, the Birthplace of Iowa Volume III, some activities would not have met legal standards and members could purchase liquor by the drink and play games of chance.

The establishment moved to its present location, 3050 Asbury Road, in 1955 when the site was outside the city limits. It was then known as the Lux Club.
