CONRY, Thomas. (Masonville, IA, Mar. 13, 1900--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 1974). Monsignor Conry was the first editor of The Witness, the official publication of the ARCHDIOCESE OF DUBUQUE. Graduated from COLUMBIA COLLEGE in the class of 1895, Conry began theological studies at Grand Seminary, Montreal, Canada.

Ordained a priest on December 17, 1898, Conry served as an assistant at ST. RAPHAEL'S CATHEDRAL for three years and was then, in 1901, was appointed head of the English Department at Columbia College. He taught until 1924 when he was made president of the college. Monsignor Conry was the author of two poetry books.
