In 2015 Steven Stierman and Jordyn Took, longtime customers of Comic World, had been considering opening a shop for several months. The two hoped to debut plans for the new venture at the inaugural DBQ Con in September. They were presented with an unexpected opportunity when Comic World's previous owner, Josh Staudenraous, offered to sell the business and its assets.
Comics under the new owners remained a focus of the business. Stierman and Took stocked popular and current books and could special order just about anything else. They were determined to continue the shop's history as a venue for "nerd and geek" activities. Friday evenings were devoted to tournaments of Magic: The Gathering — a fantasy-themed card-based role-playing game. Board game nights and Dungeons and Dragons matches were commonplace. The shop frequently stayed open past its scheduled 9 p.m. closing time to accommodate games and activities that ran a little long.
