CHARLES KLEIN--2609 BROADWAY. This house overlooking Diagonal, Broadway, and Central Avenue was constructed in 1910 for Charles Klein and his wife Louisa. The house was later electrified and plumbing was added in 1924. The original address was 83 Broadway, but ofter 1920 the City of Dubuque changed home addresses to four digits.

The house contains a combination of late Victorian and new Arts and Crafts styles. Restoration by Tom and Cinda Welu began in 1989. In 2010, on the 100th anniversary of the home's construction, a conservatory was added.

The home was featured on the 2012 Old House Tour.
