BLASER, Frank J. Sr. (Dubuque, IA--Des Moines, IA, Mar. 20, 1960). Blaser, known for his almost encyclopedic memory of tax codes, was able to answer questions and quote cases from memory earning him the nickname, "Mr. Income Tax." In 1917, Blaser began his career with the Internal Revenue Service when the state office was in Dubuque. He continued with the agency when it moved to Des Moines in 1929.

During his career, Blaser presented tax seminars to thousands of attorneys. In December 1953, Blaser was appointed assistant director of the Internal Revenue Service for Iowa. He retired from the IRS in 1957.
