BAKEY, Richard. (Dubuque, IA- ). Iowa Highway Safety Patrol Trooper Bakey was appointed to the Patrol on October 1,1964, and was assigned to Iowa Falls as a road trooper. He transferred to his hometown in 1969 and served eighteen months as the first driver's license examiner to live in Dubuque.

From 1979 to 1990 Bakey served as a director of District 10. He then became an alternate director for Post 15. Headquartered in Des Moines but with his office in Dubuque, he had statewide responsibilities as a vehicle theft investigator. He retired in 1994.
