ARNDT, William J.
Arndt, William J. (Chickasaw County, IA, Jan. 20, 1898--Dubuque, IA, May 19, 1995). Arndt graduated from the BAYLESS BUSINESS COLLEGE in 1916. After some time as the purchasing manager for the former CORN BELT PACKING COMPANY, Arndt took the position of circulation manager of the Telegraph Herald in 1922. In 1941 he was the main motivator in establishing KDTH radio station. He retired in 1967.
Arndt was an honorary lifetime member of the International Circulation Managers Association in the Central States Circulation Managers Association and was a director for three years. He served as chairman of the Iowa Highway Committee, Aviation Committee, and the Transportation Committee of the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce. For several years he was the Dubuque County chairman in charge of the U.S. savings bond sales. He was also a director of the DUBUQUE GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB.
