ARMSTRONG, Alicia Ann. (Dubuque, IA, August 25, 1926--Milwaukee, WI, Jan. 25, 2004). The daughter of John ARMSTRONG, Alicia worked as a reporter for the TELEGRAPH HERALD during high school. After graduating from the University of Iowa, she was employed by a newspaper in Davenport. She moved to Milwaukee where she was a feature writer for the Milwaukee Journal specializing in religion and senior citizens.

She authored a book entitled "Zooperstars" and interviewed many famous individuals including Golda Meir and Eleanor Roosevelt. She traveled to Israel along with photographers for the 25th anniversary of Israel's statehood. Her reporting of the event was published as a Sunday supplement.

In 1990 she was inducted into the Media Hall of Fame. When she retired,, Governor Tommy Thompson; William O'Donnell, County Executive; and Milwaukee Mayor Henry Maier proclaimed "Alicia Armstrong Day" in the state, county and city.
