AMERICAN EAGLE AIRLINES
AMERICAN EAGLE AIRLINES. In March 1993 American Eagle had five inbound flights and four outbound flights daily to Dubuque. This was after it dropped its 2:30 p.m. flight from Dubuque to Chicago. (1)
In 1994 American Eagle, the commuter portion of American Airline, provided round-trip service to Chicago. (2) In 1994 the airline began using ATR airplanes, manufactured by a French-Italian manufacturer, to carry between 46-72 passengers. At the end of 1994, the Federal Aviation Administration barred ATRs from flying in icy weather.
On January 1, 1995 American Eagle commuter flights, grounded because of safety concerns about ATR planes, resumed service to Iowa using Saab 340s. (3) Dubuque, Des Moines and Waterloo was scheduled to resume pre-shutdown levels. This meant four flights daily from Dubuque. (4)
In 2014 American Eagle was the only airline servicing the Dubuque airport.
The 1989 through 2014 Dubuque City Directory listed the regional airport.
