"BLUE STAR" HOMES
"BLUE STAR" HOMES. Amid concerns for children's safety, the "Blue Star" home project was announced in 1985. Homes marked with a blue star in the front window were places where children in fear of a stranger could go to be safe.
The homes and their residents were cleared by the police department before they were given the star to display. Once inside the home, the owner would contact the police or school officials. Parents were also asked to notify the police.
