KEY CITY IRON WORKS. The Key City Iron Works was established by Charles SCHRIBER and Frank STRINSKY.

The 1884-1885 Dubuque City Directory stated the company was located on 8th between Iowa and Clay. Bridge bolts were listed as a specialty. The two founders sold the company and in 1885 Neumann and Hodel were listed as general machinists and founders. (1)

The 1899-1900 through 1911-12 Dubuque City Directory gave the address as the southeast corner of Jackson and 9th. Frank Zehetner bought Newman's share in 1901. In 1910 Zehnetner and Vogelthaler were listed as general machinists and owners. Zehentner purchased Vogenthaler's share and ran the company alone until Louis Pitschener came in as a partner.

The 1916-1917 White's Dubuque County Directory listed 890 Jackson.

Advertisements of the company indicated an address of 9th and Jackson in 1928 and 1929. The owners were then listed as Pitschner, Lull and Wertin. Zehentner sold his interest in 1929. (2)

From 1937 through 1993, the company was located at 898 Jackson Street.
