ZWACK, John. (Dubuque, IA-- ). Ordained a priest in 1943, Zwack accepted a request to be a military chaplain. Sent to Nuremburg, Germany because a German-speaking Roman Catholic chaplain was needed, he spent from 1945 to 1947 visiting all the men awaiting war crimes trials.

Later with posts in Puerto Rico, Panama, Japan and Korea, Zwack remained in the Army until 1967.

After leaving the military, Father Zwack was a priest in Eldora, Iowa, before retiring due to ill health.
