WICKES LUMBER & BUILDING SUPPLY CENTER. A division of Wickes Corporation, the company opened in 1965 in Dubuque on Highway 3 and 52 N.
The 1985 through 1993 Dubuque City Directory listed Wickes Lumber Company at the same address.
Going through multiple owners, the company was owned by United Building Centers and ProBuild Holdings before being purchased by Builders FirstSource in 2016.
In October, 2019 the company's ten employees learned that the parent company was planning to close its Dubuque operation. Employees were given the opportunity to work at the location in Platteville, Wisconsin. (1)
