UNIVERSAL LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY. Universal Life Insurance Company opened its offices for an open house on September 8, 1923. Located at 973 Main Street, the building had formerly been the site of the FEDERAL BANK AND TRUST COMPANY.

The company had been started in June 1923 with the first policy issued on June 12th. The company was originally limited to doing business in Iowa and Illinois, but intended to expand in the Midwest. Offices of the company had formerly been on the sixth floor of the BANK AND INSURANCE BUILDING. When the company moved, it intended to use the first floor of their new building and then, with increasing business, use the second floor.

Officers included Dennis J. Murphy, president; Fred J. Figge, vice-president; F. W. Coates, secretary, and J. F. Becker, treasurer.
