ROUSH, Daniel N.
ROUSH, Daniel N. (Lima, OH, November 17, 1945--Dubuque, IA, October 22, 2018) The son of Bernard and Hilda (Schumacher) Roush, Dan graduated from Lima Senior High School in Lima, Ohio in 1963, Ohio State University in 1967 and received his master's degree from LORAS COLLEGE. On February 7, 1970 he married Anne Cody at ST. COLUMBKILLE CATHOLIC CHURCH.
In his 33 years as an educator, he served 13 years as principal at FULTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, 13 years as principal at EISENHOWER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and 3 years as principal at MARSHALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. He retired from the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT and continued to work in the educational environment at NICC. Roush, an avid golfer, was credited with shaping the annual NICC golf tournament fundraiser. He also volunteered with DuRide and the resale shop for AREA RESIDENTIAL CARE, INC..
In relating their memories of their grandfather, his grandsons remembered each Thanksgiving being given envelopes containing cash. At Christmas, they had to report to their grandfather how the money was spent. There was a catch. The money, which had to be matched as the grandsons grew up and had jobs, had to be spent on those less fortunate.
