OAKLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. Located in Sections 10, 15-16, and 21-22 of Dubuque Township, the district was about four square miles but drew from a large population living on the outskirts of the City of Dubuque. The district was absorbed by the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT in 1960. The old school was located on the west side of Kennedy Road a few hundred feet south of West 32nd Street.
