MURRAY, Wilfred L. (Warren, IL--Unknown). Recipient, Distinguished Service Cross. On October 6, 1918, Corporal Murray voluntarily went forward and made his way to the enemy front lines to locate hostile artillery firing at short range on American batteries. While on this mission, he rescued a wounded comrade and carried him to safety.
