MURRAY, Francis A. "Chip." (Chicago Heights, IL- ). The son of Frank MURRAY, "Chip" graduated from WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL and received a degree in political science and speech from LORAS COLLEGE. He graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and the ABA National Trust School at Northwestern University and received his Master of Arts in Communication from the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE where, in 2015, he was an adjunct professor. In 1982 as the vice president-trust department manager for FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DUBUQUE, Murray led People for Parks and Recreation, a group that successfully lobbied for a referendum asking Dubuque taxpayers to help pay for a $1.5 million recreation project. Voters approved the measure by a 67.3 percent majority. Murray then led fund raising efforts, collecting nearly $600,000 for the sports center. The effort which began in 1978 saw its completion in 1986 with the opening of the Gerald "Red" MCALEECE Park and Recreation Complex.

Murray served as president of the Dubuque Youth Council, chairperson of the Dubuque Park and Recreation Commission and was involved with projects associated with the DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, GREATER DUBUQUE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, and the American Cancer Society. He was a board member of United Way Services, the Archdiocesan Board of Education, MERCY HEALTH CENTER and the DUBUQUE VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION. (2)

In 1982 Murray was named "Outstanding Young Man" by the Dubuque JAYCEES for his fund raising efforts on behalf of the American Cancer Society. The same year he was honored for his efforts that led to passage of the recreation facilities bond issue. He was presented the "Lay Person Award" by the Iowa Park and Recreation Association in 1983. In 1986 Murray received the Outstanding Service Award from the City of Dubuque for his efforts on the Park and Recreation Commission. The Dubuque Jaycees awarded Murray the "Outstanding Young Person" award in 1988 for his extensive community involvement and leadership.

On September 8, 1998 Murray became the president of Brenton bank in Davenport with responsible for all retail banking functions and for real-estate, investment and commercial banking business efforts. He came to the Davenport bank from Mercantile Bank in Dubuque, where he most recently was executive vice president. (3)

In 2015 Murray was the president of CEO of First Community Trust. (4)
