MONELL BROTHERS GREAT INTERNATIONAL CIRCUS. Coming to Dubuque in July, 1942 the circus was sponsored by the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps which brought children from ST. MARY'S ORPHAN HOME and MOUNT PLEASANT HOME to the first day of a four day schedule of performances. An account of the time stated there were several trained animal acts including Arabian Liberty horses, ponies, dogs and monkeys
