LUTHER, William C. (Dubuque, IA, Sept. 22, 1865--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 16, 1946). Luther began working for the Dubuque Times at the age of fifteen before joining the Dubuque Telegraph at the age of twenty-five.

In 1900 the stockholders of The Dubuque Herald elected him one of the newspaper's directors. (1) Upon its reorganization in 1901 as the Telegraph Herald, Luther was named vice-president and secretary. He headed the commercial printing department until 1912 when he sold his interest in the paper.

Politically a Democrat, Luther served on the County Central Committee. At the time of his death, he was the owner of the Century Printing Company.
