KRETSCHMER, William M.
KRETSCHMER, William M. (Dubuque, IA, Feb. 8, 1872--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 27, 1944). Born and educated in Dubuque, Kretschmer founded the Kretschmer Insurance Agency in 1910. (1) For a number of years, he was associated with Maurice B. Lee in the firm of Kretschmer & Lee. (2)
Locally he served as a member of the board of LINWOOD CEMETERY, UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE, and MOUNT PLEASANT HOME. He had also served as the treasurer of the board at Mount Pleasant Home and was a member of the Dubuque Real Estate Board. In 1921 he was the manager of the DUBUQUE CLEARINGHOUSE ASSOCIATION. (3) In 1923 he served as the president of the Dubuque High School Alumni Association. (4)
