KEGLER, Christian Mathias

KEGLER, Christian Mathias. (Germany, Feb. 24, 1848--Dubuque, IA, Feb. 9, 1902). Moving to this country with his parents when he was three, the family settled on a farm near St. Donatus. He later opened a large general store in Springbrook and had financial interests in several large creameries in Jackson County. (1) For some time prior to December 1895 he operated a fourth class post office in Springbrook. (2)

Around 1894 Kegler and G. A. Schenkowitz announced the discovery of a cure for cancer. Coming to Dubuque, Kegeler established DR. KEGLER AND COMPANY at 8th and Washington STREETS. (3)

He died suddenly of a heart attack.
