DOTY, Delhi A. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 22, 1923--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 28, 1998) In 1920 Delhi Doty, the owner and operator of DOTY'S GROCERY was an accomplished accordion player, a former member of the Clarence ZAHINA Barnstormers, and a former mayor of Sageville. (1)

He was the leader of DOTY'S DUBUQUE BAND, a group of musicians which merged with the DUBUQUE MILITARY BAND to become the DUBUQUE COMMUNITY BAND. (2) Doty served as the first director of the new group and remained in that position until his death. (3)
