NELSON, Britt (Rochester, NY-- ). Holding a bachelors' degree in art education from the State University College at Buffalo, New York and a master's degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, Britt was named the executive director of the DUBUQUE MUSEUM OF ART in 1999. He had worked most recently at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University where he was the executive director for six and one-half years.

Britt's experience with the Kansas museum began before the building was constructed and continued after it was finished. His experience was judged important as the Dubuque museum was involved in a $1.5 million renovation project which included moving the museum from the OLD JAIL to the Statesman Bank building, remodeling the building and raising money to pay for the work.
