BIASI, C. George. (Dubuque, IA, July 3, 1918--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 11, 1990). Biasi, a member of the ad hoc committee for the city of Dubuque and DUBUQUE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY for twenty-one years, was a real estate broker. He was associated with WEST SIDE REALTY, an agency he owned for five years before his retirement in 1985.

In 1973 Biasi represented clients interested in purchasing an entire URBAN RENEWAL block in downtown Dubuque bordered by Fourth, Fifth, Main and Iowa STREETS. The Ramada hotel company assured the investors they would receive a franchise if the entire block was acquired. Another Ramada was planned for the west side of town. (1)

A member of many local civic and social organizations, Biasi directed the publication of the "Tresselboard," the Masonic Temple's news publication, and was an officer of the York Rite in 1964. (2) In 1988 he was an officer of the Dubuque High Twelve Club 119, Masonic Lodge AF &AM. (3) In 1956, Biasi was appointed the Eastern Iowa Area counselor of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. Chapters served by Biasi included those in Cedar Rapids, Clinton, Davenport, Dubuque, Elkader, Maquoketa and Oelwein. (4) He was one of the organizers locally of the "Barbershop Singers" and was as chairman of the Dubuque Historical Preservation Commission was considered the author of the HISTORIC PRESERVATION ORDINANCE. (5)
