SAINT CESSIANUS. As an eight-year-old boy, St. Cessianus was martyred by Emperor Diocletian. The body was brought to America from Rome in 1838 by Bishop Mathias LORAS who was presented with the remains by Pope Gregory XVI. During Mass on November 23, 1986, the remains of the fourth century martyr were installed in the altar of the renovated SAINT RAPHAEL'S CATHEDRAL.
