RABE, William
RABE, William. (Dwight, IL, Feb. 12, 1906--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 14, 1989). Vice-President, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Local I5O-A. Rabe, retired from the DUBUQUE PACKING COMPANY in 1971, served as the vice-president of Local 150-A from 1959 to 1963. He played an important role in beginning the building fund for the present union office at 1111 Bluff Street.
Rabe, formerly a land surveyor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, came to Dubuque to study the flooding effects of the ZEBULON PIKE LOCK AND DAM. In 1945 he joined the faculty at LORAS ACADEMY where he taught history and coached freshman football.
