P. HUGHES AND SON. P. Hughes & Son opened in Dubuque in 1885 with a capital stock of $4,000 invested in fresh and groceries. By 1887 the grocery was earning annual sales of $35,000.
Prior to opening the grocery, Patrick Hughes was a member of the local DUBUQUE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
The 1886-87 through 1899-1900 Dubuque City Directory listed 583 Main.
