HAMILTON, Tom. (Dubuque, IA--  ). Postmaster. Hamilton served as postmaster of Epworth from 1961 to 1984. In 1946, he started work in the old 1927 post office on Main when employees worked seven days per week with mail arriving by train.  There were two rural routes serving Placid and Bankston and an estimated one thousand people to serve.  Hamilton directed the establishment of a new post office in 1967.

Hamilton was also an assistant scoutmaster, secretary and treasurer of the Epworth Community Fire Department, county adjutant of the American Legion, officer in the Epworth Community Improvement Organization, and secretary of the centennial committee. He was the secretary of the Epworth Medical Building Association's board of directors and a member of the zoning board, zoning board of review, and the Epworth Community Historical Society.
