GOLDEN FOOTBALLS. In 2016 the National Football League and Wilson Sporting Goods in cooperation celebrated the 50th Super Bowl by providing a "Golden Football" to every high school who produced a player or coach who participated in the first forty-nine Super Bowls.

The trophy case at DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL contains two of the commemorative footballs. Michael MERCER kicked for the Kansas City Chiefs in the first Super Bowl and C. Michael "Mike" REILLY played linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV.
