BEHR, Joseph J. (Sherrill, IA, Mar. 26, 1892--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 27, 1978). President J.J. Behr Implement Company. In 1913, Behr began his implement business in Sherrill. To his line of implements, he gradually added agricultural supplies and groceries until he had developed a general store. In 1924, Behr opened a second establishment, Farmers Supply Company, in Dubuque at 10th and White streets and then the Behr Farm and City Distributing Company.

Behr became the local representative of the International Harvester Company in 1947. From the time of Sherrill's incorporation until he moved to Dubuque, Behr served his community as the town clerk.
