BAUMAN, John S. (Columbus, OH, Feb. 15, 1846--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 7, 1929). Priest. Coming to Dubuque in 1882, Father Bauman was appointed pastor of SACRED HEART CHURCH. Under his direction, the parochial school was placed in charge of the Franciscan Sisters, the Sisters' home was constructed, the priest's home was completed, and Marquette Hall was erected. Rev. Father Bauman celebrated his golden jubilee on December 21, 1921.
