BAUMAN, John S. (Columbus, OH, Feb. 15, 1846--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 7, 1929).  Coming to Dubuque in 1882, Father Bauman was appointed pastor of [[SACRED HEART CHURCH]]. Under his direction, the parochial school was placed in charge of the Franciscan Sisters, the Sisters' home was constructed, the priest's home was completed, and Marquette Hall was erected.
