A. R. KNIGHTS AND COMPANY. A. R. KNIGHTS worked for E. A. GILES & CO. for approximately ten years before opening his own jewelry store in 1878. (1) In August, 1890 the announcement was made that the company had been appointed the time inspectors for the Burlington Railroad in this region. (2)
The company was also deeply involved in encampments of the GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC (G. A. R.). In 1891 it manufactured 5,000 souvenir badges for the veterans. (3)
The 1878 through 1904-1905 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business was located at 708 Main.
