STOUT, James Huff. (Dubuque, IA, 1850--Menominee, WI, Dec. 8, 1910). Senator. Stout, the eldest son of Henry L. STOUT, served as manager of the Menominee branch of the KNAPP-STOUT LUMBER COMPANY and was elected senator for the state.

A strong advocate for education, Stout founded the Wisconsin Training Center in 1898. In 1908 this facility was renamed the Stout Institute.
