CITY BREWERY (THE). Ignatz Seeger opened a small brewery on Locust Street in 1852. Called the Stone Brewery when it was opened in 1852, it was the third brewery in Dubuque. The name was changed in 1858 to The City Brewery which it retained for ten years. The company was reorganized as DUBUQUE JOINT STOCK BREWING COMPANY (THE) in 1870.
