JACOBSON STEEL AND SUPPLY COMPANY. In 1898 I. H. Jacobson founded the scrap iron recycling center on Maple Street. In 1937 David S. JACOBSON and Joe Jacobson moved the company to Elm Street and expanded the business to the sale of industrial and medical gasses.

The address was listed in the 1955 through 1977 Dubuque City Directory as 1100 Elm.

In 1986 the recycling center moved to East Dubuque. The welding supply and safety equipment business was located at 800 Garfield Avenue.
