CHEWNING, Leslie. (Platteville, WI, June 28, 1875--Dubuque, IA, January 28, 1937). A professional musician for many years, Leslie Chewning was associated with many Dubuque dance orchestras. He and his brother Charles CHEWNING had their own orchestra called the CHEWNING BROS. ORCHESTRA. Leslie was also the director of the CHEWNING-STUBER ORCHESTRA. His favorite instruments were the violin and clarinet.

Leslie retired from the music business in 1928 and went to work for the KLAUER MANUFACTURING COMPANY. He was the uncle of John GRAAS
