STUBER, John, Sr. (Solithorn, Switzerland, Oct. 18, 1832-Dubuque, IA, 1909). Cabinetmaker. By way of several eastern cities, Stuber moved to Dubuque in 1857. He was employed by the Jo Newburgh Company and was later head painter of the Illinois Central system. where he joined fourteen other men to organize the DUBUQUE CABINET MAKERS' ASSOCIATION in 1867.
