BARTA, James (Monsignor). (Fairfax, IA- ). President, LORAS COLLEGE. Barta was officially installed as the 22nd president of Loras College on October 28, 1988. He had served as the acting president upon the resignation of Pasquale di Pasquale on July I, 1987. Barta's inauguration was postponed until merger discussions with CLARKE COLLEGE were cancelled on April 30, 1988. Msgr. Barta previously served as a psychology professor and academic dean at Loras, the college from which he graduated in 1952 with a degree in classical studies. His master's and doctoral work were in the field of psychology.
