DAYKIN, Metcalf. (Dubuque County, IA, Mar. 20, 1848-- ). Proprietor Three Mile House; P.O. Center Grove. Except for a nine years residence in Wisconsin, from 1851 to 1860, Daykin was a constant residence of Dubuque County. He was the postmaster of Center Grove and was in partnership with his brother John T., as the proprietor of the hotel. The same partnership was also engaged in MINING owning some fifteen acres of mining lots in the vicinity.
