APEL, Peter. (Kirchberg, Luxembourg, May 16, 1862--Dubuque, IA, May 13, 1911). Apel emigrated to the United States in 1882 and settled in Dubuque. On October, 29, 1883, he married Margaret Welter. Their nine children included Nicholas, Michael, Peter, Susan (mother of John GRAAS), Emil, Arthur, Edward, Francis, and Merlin APEL.

Apel was best known as "Alderman-at-large" as a member of the Dubuque City Council.
