ARTS TREK
ARTS TREK. Begun in 1988, arts trek was designed to introduce students to a symphony orchestra and its instruments. In November 2015 more than 2,700 third-grade students from 52 schools in Dubque and the surrounding area attended one of four performance times. The event was provided at no cost to schools, excluding transportation. Mark FALB and his wife Cheryl sponsored the event for fifteen years.
Performances included mini-concerts featuring the string, woodwind, brass and percussion families of instruments. The symphony also sponsored a Fifth Grade Arts Trek. In October, 2015 more than 1,800 fifth-graders attended concerts combining American history and music.
