SHEEHAN, Shirley. (Dubuque, IA, May 2, 1936--Dubuque, IA, Jan. 12, 2014) The daughter of Lee and Ila Larson, Shirley was the first paper girl for the Telegraph Herald at age 11. She was later the DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Homecoming Queen in 1954 and Class President and organizer of high school reunions for decades. She attended the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE and received her Master's degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin Platteville.

Shirley taught school in Puerto Rico and Florida before coming back to Dubuque to start the Learning Resource Center at LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Following retirement, she volunteered to read to students at the school buildings where she once taught for decades in Dubuque.
