N.L. ALDEN'S SONS. As early as 1875, Nathaniel L. Alden was operating a spice mill. By 1900 the company was organized as N.L. Alden's Sons, wholesale spice merchants. It remained in business until 1911.

The 1899-1900 Dubuque City Directory listed 254 4th.
