BLACK BUSINESS TRI-STATE EXPO. An annual Dubuque event to promote Black-owned businesses, the Expo was organized in 2021. Alanda Gregory and other residents had the goal of creating an event which would have a positive impact on Black Dubuque residents following the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Prior to 2023 the event was scheduled for one day. In 2023 boosted by an award of $10,000, the first Dubuque Equitable Community Grant to the expo from the City of Dubuque Office of Equity and Human Rights, the event expanded to three days. The first night of the event was to feature local music entertainment and an awards show to highlight local business. The following day was dedicated to the expo itself with booths and displays. The expo was to conclude with a Black excellence picnic with food and drinks brought by local residents to promote solidarity.
