MAZZUCHELLI MIDDLE SCHOOL
MAZZUCHELLI MIDDLE SCHOOL. On April 12, 2006 Archbishop Jerome G. HANUS officially proclaimed the name of HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS new middle school. The naming honored Dominican missionary, Samuel MAZUCHELLI organized the first Catholic school in Dubuque, guided the construction of ST. RAPHAEL'S CATHEDRAL and twenty othr churches, and organized more than forty parishes. The name was chosen from the favorites of faculty and parishioners during February and March.
The new middle school was constructed as a separate building adjacent to WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL and would provide room for sixth through eighth grade students. Seventh and eighth grade students previously had attended classes at Nativity known as Holy Family Middle School.
